OK, you need this in your life if you watch American football at all. Dark Chocolate Almond Football Bark is SO CUTE and SO EASY to make! Start with seeking out little candies in your team colors, or use a mix to represent all teams. But, it's the mini chocolate covered almond "footballs" that make it adorable. Now that I know how easy and quick they are to make, I'm going to have this around on football Sunday's several times per season. And, of course, for Super Bowl, this is a must-have! Adults and kids alike will love the festive spirit and gobble it up!

I have been indulging in dark chocolate for years because it used to be the only chocolate option for vegans and others desiring to avoid dairy. But, that's not the only advantage. Most commercial chocolate and candy is filled with other junk (hmm, is that why they call it "junk food?"), such as weird oils, added milk solids/fats, preservatives, and then don't get me started on the artificial colors. Ew!

Lately there's been a surge of 'healthier' chocolate and candy hitting the market, using natural food colors, high quality and responisibly sourced cacao (chocolate), and milk alternatives for 'milk chocolate' that's vegan. For this recipe, start with a base of your favorite dark chocolate. I used Chocolove 65% Rich Dark Chocolate which has the smoothest melt-in-your mouth taste and texture.

For my footballs, I used Dark Chocolate Coconut covered almonds because I thought the coconut would add in a little texture similar to the texture of American footballs. It happens to taste great, too! Then, I melted a few vegan white chocolate chips (another newbie on the market!) and just piped on the "laces". They didn't all turn out perfectly, but no one will notice in the final bark. Aren't they cute?

There is a lot of "sweet" in this Dark Chocolate Almond Football Bark, mostly due to the added candies on top, so don't forget to add in the pinches of sea salt, which doesn't make it salty flavored, but really helps offset the sweetness.

One serving is FODMAP-friendly! And, as long as the chocolate you use is vegan, the final recipe is vegan and gluten-free.
