This Tropical Turmeric Smoothie is ultra thirst-quenching, perfect in summer after a workout, or as a delicious meal-replacement on a hot day. Full of pineapple and mango for tropical sweetness, supplemented with turmeric and ginger, adding fantastic anti-inflammatory properties. It's my go-to when I've worked my body a little harder than usual and I want to replenish and rebuild my tissues with ease. But, it's also my go-to when I'm craving a bit of the tropics. The combination of pineapple, mango, and ginger create a juicy fruity flavor that makes me happy, dreaming of tropical beaches somewhere.

Turmeric is well known to be one of the most potent anti-inflammatory herbs due to one of its constituents, curcumin. Inflammation is connected to several health conditions including but not limited to, heart disease, cancer, memory impairment, arthritis and other age-related diseases. Pairing black pepper with turmeric helps to make the curcumin more bioavailable in the body. In fact, adding piperine (in black pepper) to turmeric can increase absorption by up to 2,000%. The touch of black pepper in this smoothie not only makes the curcumin more able to perform its duty in our bodies by reducing inflammation, but it adds a hint of unexpected spice to the flavor and complements the sweetness of tropical fruit in a delightful way.
Another trick to making turmeric more bioavailable is to add fat. As with most of my smoothie recipes, I've added chia seeds to this Tropical Turmeric Smoothie recipe. Chia contains healthy omega-3 fatty acids as well as fiber, and help the smoothie thicken, making them more milkshake-like. Yes, please!

Ginger and turmeric have both been shown to help reduce inflammation in the gut, making this a gut-friendly smoothie. To add even more plant diversity for gut health, add a handful of baby spinach. It will change the color, but you won't notice a flavor change. Mango is high in fructose while all remaining ingredients are low-FODMAP. If you need to limit fructose, you can increase pineapple to one cup and omit the mango.

If you make this vegan, gluten-free recipe, please give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ five stars and post a comment. We would love to hear from you and so would other readers!
